A Christmas Message from Jonas, Huddly CEO
2017 has been very special year for us here at Huddly. As our Chairman Graham Williams said to us recently, the end of 2017 marks the end of the beginning for our company. Today, December 22nd, is the winter solstice, marking the end of our little blue planet’s annual trip round the sun and, with it, our Scandinavian nights begin to grow shorter. I thought this would be the perfect time to take a moment to pause and reflect on what has been a hell of a year for our business and our team.
Without further ado, here are Huddly’s highlights for 2017, in no particular order:
Our first product, Huddly GO, is now available for purchase – both online and via our valued reseller partners.
Last Friday was arguably the most significant day in our history. When Stein Ove Eriksen and Anders Eikenes started Huddly (then known as Kubicam) in 2013, this was the moment they dreamed of. That dream has now come to pass, with Huddly GO now being sold to people like you all over the world. I would be remiss not to point you in the direction of our buy now page where you can learn more and, if you’re quick enough, snag one just in time for Christmas.
We’ve been fortunate to have the support of some fantastic investors this year, without whom none of this would have been possible. Christmas is a time to give thanks and on behalf myself and all the Huddly team, thank you for your faith in us and in Huddly GO. Rest assured, this is only the beginning and 2018 looks set to be even more exciting than 2017. Having had a sneak peek at what R&D is cooking up, next year will see Huddly go from strength to strength. You can follow these links to read more about our Series B and Series C rounds.
We’ve signed partnerships with some of the biggest technology companies in the world.
We are very proud of all our technology partners and we never pick favorites, so it’s only fair to list all of them! In October we announced Huddly GO has been chosen to be part of Google’s Hangouts Meet hardware kit, which received a lot of attention around the world. NEC selected Huddly GO to be part of their state-of-the-art new InfinityBoard display. Bluejeans validated GO as part of their Bluejeans Huddle Room solution. Interactive display experts Avocor announced a global co-partnership with us. Finally, Zoom invited us to showcase the Huddly GO as part of the Zoom exhibition at Enterprise Connect 2017. Thank you to all!
I had the honor of becoming Huddly CEO as Thomas moved up to the Board of Directors
After more than two years at the helm, our previous CEO Thomas Holst gave the reins over to myself. Throughout his 28 months as CEO, Thomas was a restless, energetic and passionate entrepreneur. He helped to build the great team we are today and brought in some of the best investors, advisors and strategic partners we could have ever wished for. I’m going to build on what he has done and focus on scaling the company with a determination to make this world a better place for humans who want to meet and work together regardless of distance and location. Thank you, Thomas!
We have nearly doubled our team – and we’re hiring more!
We now have team members in locations all over the globe – from Norway to Texas to Bangalore, Edinburgh, Oslo and beyond. We are very proud to have such a diverse team, we believe it makes us stronger. But we’re still growing. In fact, we have engineering and design positions open right now. We encourage you to follow this link to learn more and apply today!
We’ve been featured in some of the world’s top media publications
We don’t like to brag, but there’s been quite a lot written about us this year. Here’s just a few of the articles talking about Huddly: Fortune, Techcrunch, Engadget, Techcrunch (again) and Venture Beat.
So that’s it. A pretty awesome year all round. As an aside, at Huddly we see Christmas as an opportunity to give thanks, and to give back. That’s why we chose to forgo our Christmas bonuses and instead donate that money to the Red Cross, who will use it to help children fleeing the violence in Myanmar.
With that, here’s to a very happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
Very kindest regards,
Jonas and all the team at Huddly
