Huddly C1 evolves with Collaboration Mode and enhanced audio

Release 1.9.9 brings the first major update to Huddly® C1™, adding Collaboration Mode, enhanced audio performance for both voices and music, and a range of stability improvements. Read on to see what’s new and hear why music is the real test of audio performance.

“Everything seems brighter, everything’s clearer, the audio is great.” - Danny Ward, Design and Strategy Lead for AV at BT Group

We launched C1, our AI-driven videobar, just one month ago, and we’ve been blown away by the feedback. It's amazing to see the impact it's already having on meetings. And now, C1 also offers Collaboration Mode and even better audio for music and voices – all just an update away.

What’s new in release 1.9.9

  • Collaboration Mode joins Speaker Mode and Group Framing for more flexible video experiences
  • Enhanced audio performance with fuller sound and consistent voice levels for everyone
  • Improved stability and reliability across long meetings, and more

New Collaboration Mode and enhanced audio performance

With this update, Huddly C1 offers a full range of framing experiences: Speaker Mode highlights the active speaker, and Group Framing keeps everyone in view. Now, you also get Collaboration Mode!

Collaboration Mode dynamically switches between speaker and listener views, drawing inspiration from TV and podcast production for more engagement in team meetings and workshops. It allows interaction with the whole team, not just the speaker.

On the audio side, we enhanced C1’s audio capabilities for both music and voices. It delivers richer, deeper sound through an updated equalizer that is able to bring out lower frequencies. Refined Automatic Gain Control ensures consistent voice levels, regardless of speaking volume, without increasing background noise.

Music as a benchmark for meeting room audio

We’ve heard from many people who use C1 to play music because it just sounds so good. And in Oslo, the audio team tests the device with music every day (lately it has been a lot of Bill Evans). To understand why this matters, we asked Babak Moussakhani, Huddly’s Technical Product Manager for Audio Technology.

If we can make music sound great, voices naturally benefit too, and that’s something most videobars simply can’t deliver.– Babak Moussakhani, Technical Product Manager

“With speech, people don’t really notice flaws because we adapt quickly. But with music, you hear them immediately. If we can make music sound great, voices naturally benefit too, and that’s something most videobars simply can’t deliver. They're often long and narrow and can’t reproduce low frequencies in high fidelity. C1 has an advantage there, and that makes a big difference not only for music but also for how natural voices sound in meetings.”

Together, these enhancements mean C1 handles meetings with ease and delivers an audio experience that far exceeds what most people expect from a videobar.
