Meet Jesper Fonsboel, our new APAC Sales Director

Huddly has exciting plans for the APAC region, and we've found just the right person to lead the way! Jesper Fonsboel, a Dane down under, brings over 20 years of experience in AV, Unified Communications (UC), and sales leadership.



With a life full of global adventures, Jesper’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Based in Melbourne, Australia, he combines his extensive experience with a hands-on approach to drive Huddly’s growth in the region.

We caught up with Jesper to hear more about his story, his plans for APAC, and why he believes Huddly’s technology will make a real impact.

From Denmark to down under

Jesper, can you tell us a bit about your background? How did you end up in Australia?

Jesper: I moved here in 2000 after meeting my wife in Denmark. Fun fact: the Danish King Fredrik (then Crown Prince) met his wife, Mary, at the Sydney Olympics around the same time. Our friends joked that we swapped places—Pia brought me to Australia, and the Crown Prince took Mary to Denmark!

Before that, I traveled quite a bit. I joined an accelerated program in the Danish military, gaining leadership experience at a young age. Afterward, I joined Mærsk’s shipping graduate program, which took me to the U.S. to work in logistics. At 26, I co-founded a company that applied early machine learning to optimize supply chains—though we didn’t even call it AI back then.

In Australia, I started with Bang & Olufsen before joining an AV integrator, where I gained hands-on experience with audiovisual solutions. This eventually led me to Telstra, where I led sales teams on large-scale UC projects. Since AV is so closely integrated with UC solutions, having a strong background in both areas has been a real advantage in this industry.

Building a growth engine

What’s your approach to growing the APAC market?

Jesper: The APAC region is a huge and diverse market, with each area—from Australia to China, India, Singapore, and Southeast Asia—having its own unique needs and requiring a slightly different approach.

In Australia, we’re really hands-on—just the other day, I personally delivered a Huddly Crew system to a customer. In other regions, it’s more about empowering partners to drive sales. But overall, it’s about building an engine that runs smoothly and sustainably, without having to hand-hold through every opportunity. The foundations are already laid—resellers are in place, and people know it’s a great product. Now, we just need to fine-tune that engine, enabling partners to take ownership while I support them.

I’ve also got fantastic global support, both technically and sales-wise, and we’re all excited about the opportunity to grow APAC in a sustainable way and make a real impact.

Transforming meetings

What do you think sets Huddly apart? What excites you about working at Huddly?

Jesper: I love being part of a team that’s committed to improving meeting experiences for everyone. It’s not just about solving technical issues—it's about ensuring that everyone, whether they’re in the room or joining remotely, has a great meeting experience. After all, it’s in every company’s best interest to keep their people engaged, rather than having them listen passively for 45 minutes without interaction.

Huddly’s cameras are flexible and adaptable, which makes them ideal for a diverse market like APAC. In Australia, for example, companies are reconfiguring offices post-pandemic, and they need solutions that are easy to integrate. Our technology makes that transition smooth for users, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.
