2.0.3 brings enhanced audio to both sides of the call

Poor audio doesn't just make meetings frustrating. It also increases cognitive load, the mental effort your brain spends separating speech from noise, leaving less capacity for the actual conversation.

2.0.3 addresses that directly, bringing new, enhanced audio to both C1 and C1 Crew to improve the experience for both in-room and remote participants.

Improved reverb suppression

The biggest change is to our speech enhancement model, which is now significantly better at reducing reverb and background noise, especially in rooms with poor acoustics or hard surfaces.

Babak Moussakhani, Huddly’s Technical Product Manager for Audio, comments: "Each room has its own acoustic signature, and reverb can appear in any of them, big or small. Our speech enhancement model takes care of that regardless of the room. With 2.0.3, remote participants will clearly notice the difference: voices are easier to follow, and it takes less effort to stay engaged in the conversation."

The model is also more aggressive on ambient noise like fan hum, but stops short of removing it completely. As Babak explains: "If we removed it entirely, speech would start to sound robotic. The goal is always audio that sounds natural."

Enhanced speaker output

The update also improves what in-room participants hear from the far end. We've tuned the speaker output so remote voices come through with less bass and more clarity.

Babak comments: "Bass makes sound feel warmer and richer, but with speech, warmth isn't the same as clarity. In 2.0.3, we've dampened the bass so that everything your remote team members say comes through clearly."
